Promoting health through our garden project

20 July 2023 | Shannen Harte

Our garden project has enabled us to grow our own fresh fruit and vegetables, provide valuable skills to our community members on how to grow their own gardens, and educate our children in the school. We have also begun awareness workshops on healthy eating using our garden project, helping our community understand the importance of eating fresh fruit and vegetables and how it can benefit their health. For those patients who are on chronic medication which can only be taken on a full stomach, we also provide them with fresh veg to take home after a visit to our clinic.

A fun fact: For new mothers who are battling with breastfeeding, as a home remedy to treat Mastitis, we give them cabbage leaves to help alleviate the painful swelling and inflammation of the breast tissue.
