Baby Wellness Clinic Update

30 October 2024 | Shannen Harte

This past month we have seen so many tiny babies come to our infant wellness clinic. Although they are so small, to our surprise this set of twins were actually full term. A little girl weighing in at 2.7kgs and a little boy at 2.5kgs. We have been keeping a close watch on the twins and monitoring them in our baby clinic, ensuring that they are gaining a healthy amount of weight and that their mommy has everything she needs to care for them. We have been so fortunate to receive the most beautiful donations of baby clothing and blankets which goes to these little ones in need. We also continue to monitor our new mothers closely ensuring that their health and wellbeing is at its best. We emphasize how important it is for the mother to be healthy both physically and mentally in order to care for their babies. One often focuses so much attention to the infant that they forget the mothers health is just as important.

Teddy to the rescue...

This little one was also full term, 41 weeks, but was so small at birth that he could not latch onto his mommy to feed. In a state of desperation his mother came to us for help during our infant wellness clinic. We suggested to the mother that she needed to hand express into a bottle and get some food into this little one as quickly as possible.

Teddy who works in our baby clinic was able to show the mother how to hand express and we were able to find a little bottle to feed this precious baby. That day we sent a driver to purchase some manual breast pumps to keep on hand for situations like this. The mother was so grateful for our help, and we sent her home with a breast pump and bottle to feed her baby.
