Baby Clinic Update

We had a chat with Teddy who runs our baby wellness clinic to get an in depth update on the past quarter. We continue to provide our baby packs to new mothers and babies which is an essential part of what we can do to help. We also continue to decant creams, soaps and lotions to make them go further and ensure no baby is left without. We recently received a large donation of baby blankets for Winter which we are so grateful for, it is starting to get very cold out here in the valley. For those who have donated pre-loved baby clothing, we want to say a very special thank you because these mothers are coming from such destitute backgrounds and a lot of them are a young age, still in school, and do not have the financial means to support a child, considering they are still children themselves.
We continue to stress the importance of immunizations to our mothers at our baby wellness clinic, we also do not negotiate on Road to Health cards being present at clinic visits, these are a must so that we can check if the babies have been immunized and are keeping up to date with their required vaccinations. We are still providing education on the importance of immunizations so that every new mother leaves our clinic educated and informed to make the right decisions for their infants.
Teddy also wanted to share a story with everyone on a set of twins that recently came to the clinic, a boy and girl, born at 30 weeks and both only weighing 1kg at birth. The birth story goes that the twins were born unexpectedly at home. When the ambulance arrived, they discovered that the twins were enclosed in separate amniotic sacs and rushed to hospital for further medical attention. The twins first visit in our clinic was on the 29th of April 2025, the boy was at a weight of 1.9kg and the girl was 2.3kgs. We are currently monitoring the twins closely and they are showing good progress, in the first week after the initial visit both gained weight and are progressing nicely. The twins will continue to come to our clinic for close monitoring and assessment.
