Lucia starts Grade R

21 February 2020 | Shannen Harte

Lucia who has been with us since birth has recently been promoted to Grade R here at 1000 Hills Community Helpers. When Lucia was born, her mother was just a teenager and was not able to care for her alongside her 18-month-old brother who was very ill. Her mother came to the centre asking us for food and medical care when we heard the story from her mother we decided that we needed to do something to help little Lucia. Nini, one of our community caregivers agreed to take Lucia as her own. 5 years later, Lucia is thriving and absolutely adores Nini and the family here at 1000 Hills Community Helpers. Every month we provide for Lucia and Nini by means of food, clothing and a stipend. Thanks to ADD HOPES support we are able to feed and care for another family in need. Lucia is doing so well and loves her new Grade R Class, she is always smiling and just loves her GOGO (Aunty Dawn). She is a blessing to our home of love.
